Great news for QDO 2019 debater-wannabes! Additional recruitment started! Please read through the notification and register via our Google forms.

Additional recruitment is based on a first come first serve basis, and will end once the number reaches the limitation. A notification email will be sent as soon as we received your registration. Once your registration has been confirmed, please pay the participation fee by bank transfer within a week. 
Please notice that the participation fee will not be refunded. We appreciate your kind understanding and cooperation.

We, the committee of Kyushu Debate Open (QDO) 2019, are pleased to invite you to join us in this year’s Kyushu Debate Open, one and the only international British Parliamentary style debate tournament in Japan! This year, we also hold workshop and debating conference by well experienced debaters before and after the tournament. Please carefully read following information and register not to miss this opportunity!

<Tournament overview>
1. Format: British Parliamentary (BP)
2. Date: August 10th (Sat) – August 11th (Sun) (registration starts from 9:00)
*We will hold Workshop on August 9th by DCAs of QDO and people who have experience in being World Champion. We will ask about attendance in the form of "personal information" later. QDO participants can attend it at no additional cost! More information will be released soon.
*We will also hold Debating conference on August 12th. This conferences sponsor is International Society for Teaching Debate (https://www.facebook.com/debatekyoiku/).

3. Eligibility: Anyone
4. Adjudication Rule: N=0 (Teams do NOT need to bring adjudicators)
5. Venue: Kyushu University, Ito Campus (http://www.kyushu-u.ac.jp/en/campus/ito/ )
*It takes about 1 hour from Hakata/Tenjin Station to Ito campus.

　Please follow the procedure written in our email and pay registration fee.
*We will send Phase2 message those who complete Phase1 registration of QDO 2019. 
*If we cannot confirm your payment by the deadline, those teams’ application would be automatically canceled. Make sure not to miss the deadline, and let us know in advance if you have some reasons you cannot pay money by the deadline. 
*In case you cancel participation after you pay registration fee, we cannot refund it. It is very important to run tournament, thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

3. Registration Fee 
Debater (per person): 15000 JPY (tentative)
Independent adjudicator: 9000JPY (tentative)
High school students' team (per person): 5000 JPY

4. Notes
*We are going to provide meals for those who want (breakfast, lunch for BOTH days, break night dinner on 10th). Participants will need to fill in an online application form to reserve for their meals latter on.

Terms of Conditions 
1. Personal Information 
The Committee of Kyushu Debate Open (hereafter “QDO”) recognizes that your privacy is crucially important, and we are committed to protect your personal information that we collect from participants of QDO 2019. The Committee of QDO collects personal information that can identify you mostly via Google Forms and Email if necessary. The personal information may include details such as your name, age, gender, contact information, affiliation, occupation, and photographs. Further by continuing to participate QDO 2019, the participant specifically agrees that the Committee of QDO collects, uses and holds your personal information for the purposes of: 1) team and debater registration; 2) accommodation reservation; 3) match-up in each debate round; and 4) questionnaire during and after QDO 2019 for analyzing our service, participant needs, and research related to debate education with a view of improving debate education in Japan and abroad and promoting QDO. The Committee of QDO will take all reasonable steps to prevent leakage or loss of your personal information.

2. Personal Security
The Committee of QDO is not responsible for any injury, illness, loss of/damage to personal belongings, or other unexpected problems of the participants in the tournament. The Committee of QDO will call the police (dial 110) or an ambulance (dial 119-the fire department) if necessary.

3. Eligibility for Participation 
The Committee of QDO reserves the right to expel, at our sole discretion, any participant from QDO 2019 for reasons including but not limited to: 1) breaking the rules of QDO 2019 (cheating such as using a mobile phone for external information source etc.); 2) breaking the law; 3) bullying or harassment of other participants; or 4) anti-social or inappropriate behavior towards other participants.

4. Liability 
All participants shall have a valid comprehensive liability insurance which covers liability for bodily injury, property damage and medical insurance, during the participant’s stay for participating QDO 2019. In no event will the Committee of QDO be liable for any injury, loss or damage including, without limitation, indirect or consequential loss or damage, or any loss or damage whatsoever arising from loss of data or profit arising out of or in connection with participating QDO 2019.

5. Applicable Laws
All information and data, their usage and the registration to QDO or its use are exclusively subject to laws of Japan except for the provisions of international private law.

<Visa and accommodation>
1. Visa:
ALL participants are expected to get tourist visas for Japan by yourselves.

This year, we, QDO committee, are happy to announce that debating workshop by experienced debaters and international debate conference will be held before and after the tournament. *We will hold Workshop on debating and adjudicating on August 9th by CA, DCAs of QDO, and Worlds champion debaters. This workshop is opened freely for QDO participants. Registration will be available later in “personal information” form. More information will be released soon.
*We will also hold International debating conference debate and debate education (for academia, education, trainer, and businessperson) on August 12th
